Koi Development

One of biggest joy of keeping kois is to see how these lovely swimming jewels develop over time. Below are some pictures and videos of our customers’ beloved kois that have blossom over a period of time, and they continue to develop nicely; bringing much pleasure and delights to our valued customers. The Instagram Video (below) depicts the sumi and body development of a Shinoda Doitsu Showa nisai; from October 2018 when we first got her from Shinoda Koi Farm in Japan, she was raised in our farm till March 2019 when the customer brought her back home. Enjoy the video transformation.

Below is a collage of how this lovely Shinoda Doitsu Showa nisai developed. We first got her from Shinoda Koi Farm in Japan on October 2018 (1). Upon arriving Singapore, she was raised in our farm. On Dec 2018 (2), some sumi started to surface. By March 2019 (3), more sumi has now surfaced; and her body conformation has also become more developed; enticing our valued customer to bring her home 😊

The Instagram Video (below) is an Azukari progress update of this lovely Dainichi Showa after she was freshly harvested from mud pond. Bought at Dainichi Auction as a Special 41 / 3.5 Stars Dainichi Showa tosai. She was kept in Japan mud pond over the summer months with Dainichi Koi Farm. From 40cm Tosai in April 2017, she grew to 57cm Nisai in Oct 2017. She was brought back to Singapore to be groom further at Marugen Koi Farm. Scroll down for latest update of her growth development.

Below is a collage of how this lovely Dainichi Showa develops. She grew from Tosai 40cm in June 2017 (Top Left) to Nisai 57cm in October 2017 (Bottom Left) while kept in Japan under Azukari with Dainichi Koi Farm. She was brought back to groom further at Marugen Koi Farm and grew to current as a 68cm Nisai in June 2018 (Right Pic). She was fed solely on JPD Fujizakura Health Diet Premium Koi Food throughout at our farm.

Watch the Instagram Video (below) to observe first-hand the amazing growth and more impressively, the spectacular sumi development of this Omosako Shiro over a period of 1.5 years. When she first arrived Marugen Koi Farm, she was a mere 60cm Sansai (April 2016), with some underlying sumi, but very little sumi has surfaced on her body. But we saw great potential in her and groom her at Marugen Koi Farm. she was fed solely on JPD Fujizakura Health Diet Premium Koi Food throughout at our farm. Within a year, she grew rapidly to 75cm as a Yonsai (May 2017), with more sumi already surfacing on her body, but it is rather sparsed and not yet consolidated. We kept faith in her knowing this is just a progress in action. Fast forward few months later, she has blossomed into a 80cm Gosai (Nov 2017), and her sumi has finally consolidated and she is now a beauty. Truly a story of ugly duckling developing into a beautiful graceful swan!

Another Instagram Video (below) that showcase the amazing growth and superb sumi development of another Omosako Shiro over a period of 1.5 years. When she first arrived Marugen Koi Farm, she was a mere 55cm Sansai (April 2016), with some sparse surfaced sumi pattern. Like her sister (above), we saw great potential in her and groom her at Marugen Koi Farm. Like her Shiro Sister above, she was fed solely on JPD Fujizakura Health Diet Premium Koi Food throughout at our farm. Within a year, she grew rapidly to 73cm as a Yonsai (July 2017), now a beautiful Shiro with nice sumi pattern wrapping on her body, but it is not yet fully consolidated. Fast forward few months later, she has certainly blossomed into a 78cm Gosai (October 2017), and her sumi on her body has finally consolidated and she is now such a beauty. She has since been sold, and continue to grow in our valued customer’s pond, and even winning big prizes at the recent 20th Singapore Koi Show 2018, including a prestigious Hong Kong Prize.

The Instagram video (below) depicts the Azukari progress update of a Marudo Sanke. Bought as a slim bodied 54cm Nisai (2017), we saw great potential in her and kept her in Japan mud pond over the summer months with Marudo Koi Farm. Fast forward a few months, she developed into a super bulky 65cm Sansai (November 2017). She is kept in Japan to develop further with Dainichi Koi Farm for another season. Looking forward to her growth development in Oct/Nov 2018 as Yonsai.

It was kept in Japan mud pond over the summer months with Dainichi Koi Farm. From 40cm Tosai in April 2017, it grew to 58cm Nisai in Oct 2017. She is kept in Japan to develop with Dainichi Koi Farm for another season. Looking forward to her growth development in Oct/Nov 2018. Proudly owned by Mr Yeo.

One year later, the Instagram video (below) is the latest Azukari progress update of the Dainichi Kohaku. From 40cm Tosai in April 2017, it grew to 58cm Nisai in Oct 2017, and now 68cm Sansai in Nov 2018. Look at her amazing bodyshape.

Below is the progress pics of her; from 40cm Tosai in April 2017 to 58cm Nisai in Oct 2017, and now 68cm Sansai in Nov 2018. She is now back in Singapore, and will be groomed further at Marugen Koi Farm Singapore.

The picture (below) showcase the amazing sumi development of our Male Dainichi Showa; grown at our farm from 58cm Nisai to 75cm Sansai. He is offspring of Monster3; and is one of our Male Oyagoi for showa breeding at Marugen Koi Farm, and is now measuring over 80cm.

The picture (below) showcase the Azukari growth process update of Taniguchi Sanke. Grown in Japan with Taniguchi Koi Farm from 16cm Tosai (1) in December 2016, to 35cm Tosai (2) in April 2017, she went through the 2017 summer months to grow to 53cm as a Nisai (3). She was placed under Azukari for another year with Taniguchi; and emerged as a 73cm Sansai in October 2018 (4); and has since been brought home to customer’s home pond in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

The Instagram video below showcase the amazing growth development of a Taniguchi Kohaku, from a 25cm tosai, to a 40cm nisai, which further developed to a 60cm Sansai. Check out how the body only bulked up from nisai to sansai, which is a common feature for many kois as late bloomers.

Can you spot the Grand Champion of 1st Myanmar Young Koi Show 2017 in the bowl of Tosais? She was only a 12-13 cm mini Kohaku Tosai when we hand-picked her from Hasegawa Koi Farm back in March 2016. She was then grown at Marugen Koi Farm to a 55cm Nisai (October 2016), before she was sold to a Myanmar Koi Hobbyist, Bro Soe Kyaw Naing. She continued to develop in the his pond in Mandalay Myanmar, and went on to be crowned Grand Champion a couple of months later as a 59cm Nisai (Jan 2017).

The Instagram pic (below) showcase the amazing body and growth development of this lovely Wada Asagi over a 1 year period from 39cm Nisai (Nov2017) to 58cm Sansai (Oct2018), while kept under Azukari in Japan with Wada Koi Farm. The fukurin of this Asagi is mesmerizing! Many thanks to Wada Suguru san for the fantastic keeping skills. This lovely Wada Asagi went on to clinch 1st Prize Winner for 60Bu Asagi at the 38th Uonuma Nishikigoi Show in Japan on 13 October 2018.

She was kept to grow in Japan mud pond over the summer months with Sakai Fish Farm. Fast forward a few months, she developed into a pretty 55cm Nisai (November 2017). She is now being groomed with immense potential to develop further into a true beauty at our valued customer’s beautiful pond with chiller. Looking forward to her growth development.
